Use
The U3-RNP (Fibrillarin) particle is thought to participate in the first step of preribosomal RNA processing. Anti-U3 RNP antibodies have been shown to be highly specific for patients with SSc.
Special Instructions
Separate serum from cells within one hour of collection. Transfer to a plastic transport tube before shipping. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The test has a sensitivity of 4-10% for diffuse systemic sclerosis (SSc) and is found in 4-10% of Diffuse SSc, less than 2% in Limited SSc. It is associated with isolated pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), myositis, cardiac and renal involvement.
