Bleeding With Normal aPTT/PT
Use
Assist in the determination of a cause of bleeding in a patient with a normal aPTT and PT.
Special Instructions
Ensure proper blood to anticoagulant ratio by filling evacuated collection tubes to completion. Mix gently by inversion immediately after collection. Collection should avoid arms with heparin locks or heparinized catheters. Use provided Volume Guide for accurate specimen collection.
Limitations
The test results may not account for all potential factors causing bleeding disorders and a normal aPTT/PT. Incorrect specimen handling, such as improper centrifugation or inadequate mixing, can impact test accuracy. Additionally, some bleeding disorders may not be detected due to limitations in detecting certain coagulation abnormalities.

Collection Instructions
Citrated plasma samples should be collected by double centrifugation. Collect blood in a blue-top tube with 3.2% sodium citrate. Fill tubes completely, mix by gentle inversion. Centrifuge for 10 minutes, remove two-thirds of plasma, recentrifuge, and freeze immediately.
Patient Preparation
Do not draw from an arm with a heparin lock or heparinized catheter.
Storage Instructions
