Chlamydia/Gonococcus/Mycoplasma genitalium, NAA, Swab
Use
Detect Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma genitalium
Special Instructions
This test utilizes the Aptima® Multitest Swab Specimen Collection Kit or Aptima® Unisex Swab Specimen Collection Kit for sample collection. Proper collection technique must be followed to ensure the accuracy of test results. Samples should be maintained at room temperature or refrigerated within 30 days of collection, according to manufacturer or literature stability references. It is important to adhere to the specific collection instructions for different swab types to minimize risk of contamination and ensure adequate specimen sampling.
Limitations
The test is limited in its ability to detect infections only caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Mycoplasma genitalium. It cannot detect other sexually transmitted infections or pathogens not included in this assay. Incorrect specimen collection, handling, or transport may lead to false results. The presence of interfering substances or inadequate specimen volume can also affect the accuracy of the test. The test should not be used as the sole criterion for treatment decisions; clinical correlation with patient history and other diagnostic information is necessary.
