Connective Tissue Disease (CTD) Cascade
Also known as: Autoimmune (ANA) Rheumatic Disease
Use
This profile may be useful in diagnosing connective tissue or systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease.
Special Instructions
The test begins with Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA) by IFA. If ANA is positive, reflex tests are performed including Anti-DsDNA, Anti-Sm, Complement C3, Complement C4, Anti-Ro (SS-A), and more. If ANA by IFA is negative, RheumAssure is conducted, including tests like Rheumatoid Factor. Further reflexes are conducted based on these results, including Anti-TPO and Anti-Thyroglobulin testing.
Limitations
The CTD Cascade may not detect all forms of connective tissue diseases, as some may not produce specific antibodies detectable by the included tests. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings, patient history, and other diagnostic procedures. Reflex testing may not proceed if sample volume is insufficient.
