Cow Dander
Also known as: Cow Dander
Use
The Cow Dander test measures the specific IgE antibodies to cow dander allergen components. It is used to aid in the diagnosis of allergic diseases, including asthma and allergic rhinitis, where cow dander exposure is suspected as a trigger. Elevated levels of specific IgE antibodies indicate sensitization and may support the clinical diagnosis of cow dander allergy.
Special Instructions
The test should be ordered in conjunction with clinical evaluation and consideration of the patient's medical history. It is important to note that the presence of IgE antibodies alone does not confirm clinical allergy symptoms.
Limitations
This test may not detect all possible allergens related to cow dander. False negatives can occur, and negative results do not exclude the possibility of allergic reaction to cow dander. Cross-reactivity with other allergens or substances that have similar components to cow dander may affect the results. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and patient history.
