F208-IgE Lemon
Use
The Lemon IgE test is used to measure the level of specific IgE antibodies against lemon allergens in the blood. It is primarily used for the evaluation of allergic reactions to lemon, which can present with a range of symptoms from mild hives or gastrointestinal issues to severe anaphylaxis. This test helps in the diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic disorders, aiding clinicians in managing and monitoring patients with food allergies including citrus sensitivities.
Special Instructions
Ensure the patient’s full medical history is reviewed, including any prior allergic reactions to foods or other substances, prior to testing. Special storage and handling instructions apply to maintain specimen integrity, including room temperature storage during transport.
Limitations
The test can only detect IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reactions to lemon and cannot differentiate between different allergens or identify non-IgE-mediated food intolerances. False positives or false negatives are possible due to cross-reactivity or individual variability. The results should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient’s clinical history, and are not indicative of the severity of an allergic reaction.
