Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Profile
Also known as: Crohn's Disease, IBD, Ulcerative Colitis
Use
Rule out Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
Special Instructions
Orders related to this test require specimens to be free of bacterial contamination, hemolysis, and lipemia. Specimen should be collected using a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube. Testing might require additional time for reflex or confirmatory tests.
Limitations
The test does not provide a definitive diagnosis of Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis but serves as an adjunct in the differentiation process. Results must be correlated with clinical findings and other diagnostic procedures. In cases of lipemia, hemolysis, or bacterial contamination, test results may be unreliable, leading to rejection of the specimen.
