Isohemagglutinin Titer
Also known as: Anti-A Titer, Anti-B Titer, Isoagglutinins
Use
Determine the titer of isohemagglutinins (anti-A and/or anti-B) in serum; the absence of expected isohemagglutinins may suggest an immunological deficiency. This test is not recommended for the determination of immunodeficiency. Dependent upon a variety of factors, normal titers are >1:8.
Special Instructions
Testing schedules may vary, and additional time might be needed for confirmatory or reflex tests. The test includes blood grouping, anti-A titer, anti-B titer, and antibody screen.
Limitations
The presence of cold agglutinins other than anti-A and anti-B may interfere with the interpretation of the test results. Additionally, isohemagglutinins may not be present in newborns, infants younger than six months, and patients who have undergone immunosuppressive therapy, leading to potential inaccuracies in expected ABO isohemagglutinin results.
