Isohemagglutinin Titer, IgG
Also known as: IRL ISO G
Use
The test aids in determining the relative amount of anti-A or anti-B present in plasma. Higher titers may be utilized in evaluating an individual's ability to mount an immune response against cognate antigens. This can be particularly important in transfusion medicine and organ transplantation to ensure compatibility and prevent adverse reactions.
Special Instructions
IgG isohemagglutinin titers cannot be performed in patients who have received monoclonal antibodies like anti-CD38 and anti-CD47 that interfere with immunohematology testing. These therapies may cause invalid IgG titer results. Only IgG isohemagglutinin titers based on ABO screening results will be performed. If both IgG and IgM titers are desired, order Isohemagglutinin Titer, IgG & IgM (test code 2000280).
Limitations
The test is not applicable for patients who have been administered monoclonal antibodies that interfere with the test, such as anti-CD38 and anti-CD47. Additionally, if both IgG and IgM titers are required, a different test should be ordered. The test also includes additional charges for antibody identification if initial screening is positive.
