Organism Identification, Bacteria
Also known as: Culture Identification Only, Identification Only, Bacteria
Use
The Organism Identification, Bacteria test is used for the identification of routine bacteria to the genus or species level. It aids in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases by confirming the bacterial organism present. This is primarily useful in cases where particular bacterial organisms need identification to ensure proper medical treatment. For specific organisms such as Corynebacterium or atypical isolates, further reference bacterial identification may be required.
Special Instructions
Ensure that samples are properly labeled with any special identification instructions. Note that identification of atypical organisms may require additional charges. A reference bacterial culture identification may be necessary for comprehensive results.
Limitations
This test is limited to the identification of routine bacteria. Bacterial isolates requiring extensive biochemical testing for identification are not included and will require Reference Bacterial Culture Identification, which incurs additional charges. The test is not designed for anaerobic, atypical, or non-routine bacterial organisms.
