Allergen Specific IgE Gum Xantham
Also known as: Xanthan Gum
Use
This test measures allergen‑specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in the blood directed against xanthan gum (gum‑xanthan). It is used to detect sensitization to xanthan gum by identifying presence or elevated levels of IgE, which may suggest an allergic response upon exposure to this additive.
Special Instructions
No special preparation is required. Patient preparation: normal diet and activities can be maintained; fasting is not required. Sample type: blood draw (serum). Direct-to-consumer or provider‑ordered options may be available.
Limitations
A positive IgE sensitization result does not alone confirm a clinical allergy or predict severity. Results must be interpreted in context of clinical history. There may be cross‑reactivity with related allergens, and this test may not reflect actual clinical reactivity.
