Calprotectin, Stool
Also known as: Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Use
Calprotectin is a non‐specific marker of bowel inflammation. It is a neutrophil protein detectable in stool following white blood cell migration into the intestine. Fecal calprotectin levels may assist in diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease—such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis—and aid in differentiating IBD from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
