Use
Creatine kinase isoenzymes are useful in evaluation of myocardial disease. Isoenzyme MM is found in skeletal muscle, whereas isoenzyme MB is increased in recent myocardial (heart) damage.
Special Instructions
Specimen requirements: Collect serum separator tube or plain red top. Centrifuge and aliquot serum into a plastic aliquot tube and freeze. Transport frozen. Preferred specimen: 2 mL frozen serum (minimum 1 mL). Reject criteria include hemolysis and received thawed. Specimen stability: refrigerated 48 hours, frozen 14 days, ambient unacceptable. Setup days: Mondays. Transport container: plastic aliquot tube.
