Oak, White IgG4
Use
This test measures the level of Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) antibodies specific to white oak allergen (Quercus alba). It is used to support the clinical evaluation of allergic sensitization to white oak in individuals with suspected inhalant allergy to tree pollens, particularly when skin testing is contraindicated or not feasible.
Special Instructions
Send-out test performed by Quest Diagnostics. Requires serum specimen collected per standard immunoglobulin allergy testing procedures. Refer to Quest's allergen-specific IgG4 send-out guidelines and volume requirements.
Limitations
Limitations include potential cross-reactivity with other tree pollen allergens. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and may not correlate directly with clinical reactivity. The test is not FDA-cleared but is validated under CLIA regulations.
