Oak, Live/Virginia
Also known as: Live/Virginia Oak
Use
This test is used to measure IgE antibodies specific to Oak (Live/Virginia) allergens in order to identify potential allergic responses in patients. By diagnosing specific IgE levels, healthcare providers can better understand a patient's allergic profile and manage their allergy symptoms effectively.
Special Instructions
Ensure that the serum specimen is collected in a red-top or gel-barrier tube and is at least 0.2 mL in volume. The specimen remains stable for 14 days at room temperature or when refrigerated and can be stored frozen for up to three months, with successful freeze-thaw for up to three cycles.
Limitations
This test measures specific IgE levels to Live/Virginia Oak but does not provide quantitative analysis of allergy symptoms or severity. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with a clinical evaluation by a healthcare provider. The test is not cleared or approved by the U.S. FDA, although it is used for clinical purposes in diagnostics. Variability in patient's IgE response and external factors could affect the test results.
