Allergen, Tree, Olive Tree
Also known as: OLIVE TREE
Use
This test measures the concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to Olive Tree pollen. The results indicate the potential for an IgE-mediated allergic reaction which is essential for diagnosing allergies. This test helps clinicians assess allergic sensitization and guide treatment plans, especially in patients with a history suggestive of seasonal allergies. Allergy tests like this are often used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and other diagnostic tests to determine the cause of allergic symptoms.
Special Instructions
Serum must be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection to prevent degradation. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate results. Refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' for multiple allergen orders at www.aruplab.com/testing/resources/specimen.
Limitations
Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not directly correlate with the severity of allergic reactions or predict the onset of symptoms during exposure to the allergen. Results should always be interpreted in context with clinical history, as well as in vivo reactivity to specific allergens. Factors such as improper specimen handling or storage can affect test results, and hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens may be rejected. A confirmed negative result may not rule out the presence of clinical allergy or anaphylaxis, warranting a comprehensive allergy evaluation.
