Olive Tree
Use
The Olive Tree test measures specific IgE antibodies to olive tree pollen allergens in a patient's serum. It is used to help in the diagnosis of allergic diseases related to exposure to olive tree pollen, which can cause seasonal allergic rhinitis and asthma symptoms. By detecting IgE antibodies specific to olive tree pollen, this test aids in identifying and managing allergens that a patient is sensitized to, contributing to better management of allergic conditions.
Special Instructions
This test uses Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® technology for measuring specific IgE levels. Ensure that specimens are stored and transported at appropriate temperatures to maintain sample integrity. The volume of serum required is 0.2 mL, and it must be collected in either a red-top tube or a gel-barrier tube.
Limitations
The interpretation of specific IgE results should be made with consideration of the clinical history and physical examination findings. False positive or false negative results may occur due to cross-reactivity with other allergens or variability in patient response. The test does not identify other potential allergens responsible for symptoms, and additional tests may be required to fully characterize a patient's allergen profile. Freezing and thawing cycles can affect the sample integrity, thus stability is guaranteed for no more than three freeze/thaw cycles.
