Allergen, Food, Olives IgG
Also known as: OLIVES IGG
Use
This test measures the level of allergen-specific IgG antibodies to olives in the serum, which can provide information about exposure to olive allergens. Elevated results may indicate sensitization to olive allergens, although IgG levels are not typically used to diagnose allergies. They may be used along with IgE antibody testing and clinical evaluation for a comprehensive assessment.
Special Instructions
Ensure proper serum separation from cells within 2 hours of collection to maintain sample integrity. The specimen must be transferred to an ARUP standard transport tube.
Limitations
The test results may not correlate with clinical symptoms of allergy, as IgG antibodies can be present even in individuals without allergic symptoms. This test is not intended as a stand-alone diagnostic tool for allergy and should be interpreted in conjunction with patient history, other laboratory findings, and clinical evaluations. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens are not acceptable.
