Penicilloyl G (C1) IgE
Also known as: Penicillin G, ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test detects the presence of specific IgE antibodies against penicilloyl G, the major allergenic determinant of penicillin G. A positive result indicates sensitization and potential allergic reactivity, but diagnosis of penicillin allergy must also consider clinical signs and symptoms in addition to IgE sensitization.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Analytically, a positive result only indicates sensitization and not necessarily clinical allergy; diagnosis requires correlating results with exposure history and clinical presentation.
