Use
The C-Peptide, Eight Specimens test is typically used to assess and monitor beta cell function in patients by measuring the level of C-peptide in the blood. Special Instructions
This panel is a series panel requiring multiple tubes to be drawn at multiple time points. It involves initial blood collection followed by administration of a drug or treatment like glucola and subsequent collections. Ensure to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours before sample collection to avoid interference.
Limitations
This test may exhibit interference from patients consuming high doses of biotin (vitamin B7/B8, vitamin H, coenzyme R), which should be stopped 72 hours prior to testing. Additionally, not collecting the series at correct times or not contacting the clinician before collecting it might affect the results. C-Peptide reference interval is established for fasting patients, and results may vary based on the time and nature of the intervention and patient condition.
