Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis 2
Also known as: HYPER 2
Use
This test evaluates patients suspected of having hypersensitivity pneumonitis induced by exposure to specific environmental antigens such as Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus, Saccharomonospora viridis, and Thermoactinomyces candidus. The presence of these antibodies in the patient's serum may indicate an immune reaction to these antigens, which can assist in diagnosing hypersensitivity pneumonitis, a type of interstitial lung disease.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The test is qualitative and may have limitations in sensitivity and specificity. The presence of antibodies does not conclusively diagnose hypersensitivity pneumonitis without correlating clinical findings. Absence of antibodies does not necessarily mean lack of exposure or hypersensitivity, as it might be below detection or other allergens might be involved.
