Allergen, Food, Blackberry IgE
Also known as: BLACKBERRY
Use
The Allergen, Food, Blackberry IgE test is used to detect the presence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies against blackberry in the serum. It aids in the assessment of allergic reactions, which may include symptoms like urticaria, anaphylaxis, or other IgE-mediated conditions. The test results must be correlated with clinical history and other findings, as IgE concentrations might not directly correlate with the degree of clinical response.
Special Instructions
It is important to collect the serum in a separator tube and separate it from cells within 2 hours of collection. For multiple allergen orders, refer to the Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions on the ARUP website. Ensure proper patient preparation by avoiding multiple patient encounters.
Limitations
The test is not FDA-approved. Allergen concentrations as detected by this test may not correlate directly with the degree of clinical response or results of skin testing when challenged with a specific allergen. A negative test result does not rule out the possibility of a clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. IgE levels between 0.10-0.34 kU/L are of undetermined clinical relevance and should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical information.
