Allergen, Food, Blueberry
Also known as: BLUEBERRY
Use
This test measures the levels of allergen-specific IgE for blueberry. It aids in identifying allergic sensitivities and assists healthcare specialists in diagnosing IgE-mediated allergic disorders. High levels may suggest an allergic reaction to blueberry, but must be correlated with clinical history and other diagnostic tests.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided during sample collection. Ensure serum is separated from cells within two hours of collection and transferred promptly to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Refer to ARUP's 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' for handling multiple allergen orders.
Limitations
The test results showing allergen-specific IgE levels do not always correlate with the degree of clinical allergic response. A negative result does not rule out the possibility of allergy or anaphylaxis. Clinical correlation with patient history and in vivo reactivity is essential for accurate diagnosis. This test is not approved by the FDA and should only be used for clinical purposes in a CLIA-certified context.
