Allergen, Food, Mahi Mahi IgE
Also known as: MAHI IGE
Use
The Allergen, Food, Mahi Mahi IgE test is designed to detect specific IgE antibodies to Mahi Mahi, which is a type of fish often associated with allergic reactions. This test helps in diagnosing allergies related to the consumption or exposure to Mahi Mahi. It is conducted using the ImmunoCAP method, providing quantitative results that can aid in the assessment of the severity of the allergic response.
Special Instructions
This test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories. Patients need to provide separate specimens if multiple tests are ordered. Patients should ensure proper collection of serum using a plain red or serum separator tube (SST), and follow specimen preparation guidelines closely to ensure integrity.
Limitations
The test method used is a Phadia ImmunoCAP allergen-specific IgE system with quantitative fluorescent enzyme immunoassay. This test was developed by Eurofins Viracor and is not FDA approved, which could limit its clinical application. Furthermore, results may vary based on the specimen's handling and storage conditions. Hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens may not yield accurate results and are considered unacceptable for testing.
