Allergen, Grass, Bent Grass/Redtop Grass
Also known as: BENT GRASS
Use
The Allergen, Grass, Bent Grass/Redtop Grass test is used to measure the concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the patient's serum, which helps in the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases. This test can aid clinicians in determining the presence of an allergy to bent grass or redtop grass by quantifying IgE levels and correlating these results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity.
Special Instructions
Ensure to separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. For multiple allergen orders, refer to the Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions on the ARUP Laboratories website.
Limitations
The clinical relevance of allergen results between 0.10-0.34 kU/L is undetermined and should be interpreted by a specialist. Increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. A negative test does not rule out clinical allergy or anaphylaxis; correlation with clinical history and in vivo reactivity is essential.
