Bermuda Grass
Use
The Bermuda Grass test is used to detect specific IgE antibodies to Bermuda grass pollen in the blood, indicative of allergic sensitization. This test is useful in diagnosing allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma caused by Bermuda grass pollen exposure. It aids in identifying allergen triggers for patients to help manage and treat allergic conditions through avoidance strategies or targeted therapies.
Special Instructions
This test analyzes specific IgE levels using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® method. Collection requires a serum specimen and can be ordered using Test Code 602464. Ensure proper specimen volume and stability conditions are met to avoid delays in testing.
Limitations
The test is specific for IgE antibodies to Bermuda grass and does not include other allergens. False negatives may occur if antibody levels are below the detection threshold or if the patient is not currently exposed to the allergen. Results should be interpreted in the context of the clinical picture, as elevated IgE levels are not solely indicative of clinical allergy.
