Allergen, Insects and Venom, Yellow Hornet IgG
Also known as: YE F IGG
Use
This test measures the levels of IgG antibodies specific to the yellow hornet allergen (Dolichovespula arenaria). It is used to assess exposure and sensitization to yellow hornet venom, providing valuable information for clinical contexts where an understanding of immune responses to insect venoms is necessary. The test can aid in the evaluation of allergic responses and guide treatment or management of allergies related to insect stings.
Special Instructions
The test is a laboratory-developed test (LDT) and is not FDA cleared. It is performed at a CLIA certified laboratory. Pricing information is available for ARUP clients upon request. For New York clients, the specimen must be sent to a New York state-approved laboratory.
Limitations
The test is not New York state-approved. It determines the presence of allergen-specific IgG antibodies using the ImmunoCAP platform. However, results might not correlate with in vivo allergenic activity and should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings. Furthermore, hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens may impact test results, as these conditions are unacceptable for testing.
