Hornet, White Face
Also known as: Venom
Use
The Hornet, White Face test measures the presence of specific IgE antibodies to the white-faced hornet venom using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology. This test helps to determine a patient's allergenic sensitivity to the venom of the white-faced hornet, which can assist in diagnosing insect sting allergies and help in the management and treatment of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This test specifically measures IgE antibodies against the white-faced hornet venom and does not assess other possible venom allergies or provide a comprehensive allergy profile. False negatives may occur if the venom-specific antibodies are below the detection threshold. The results should be considered in conjunction with clinical evaluations and patient history. Cross-reactivity with other Hymenoptera venoms or non-venom allergies may also affect results.
