Yellow Hornet (i5) IgE
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This test detects specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to yellow hornet (Dolichovespula arenaria) venom in serum, aiding in the assessment of sensitization; a positive result indicates sensitization but does not alone confirm clinical allergy, which should be diagnosed in the context of appropriate signs and symptoms.
Special Instructions
No special preparation required. Specimen: serum. A copy of the script must be sent with each order.
Limitations
A positive IgE result indicates sensitization rather than clinical allergy. Results must be interpreted in clinical context, and low-level IgE (e.g., <0.35 kU/L) may have unclear clinical relevance.
