Allergen, Tree, Cedar/Red Tree
Also known as: CEDARRED
Use
The Allergen, Tree, Cedar/Red Tree test is designed to detect allergen-specific IgE antibodies to Cedar/Red Tree allergens. This test is useful in the diagnosis of allergic diseases, providing insight into potential allergic triggers for patients presenting with clinical symptoms suggestive of an allergic response. Understanding the presence and levels of specific IgE can aid in developing personalized management plans for patients suffering from seasonal allergies associated with cedar/red tree pollen.
Special Instructions
This test requires a serum sample collected in a serum separator tube. It is important to separate the serum from cells as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours of collection, to maintain sample integrity. For patients needing multiple allergen tests, refer to ARUP's allergen specimen collection instructions. Avoid multiple patient encounters to ensure accurate patient results.
Limitations
While this test measures the concentration of allergen-specific IgE, these values may not always correlate with the severity or presence of allergic reactions experienced by the patient. Clinical correlation with patient history and in vivo testing to specific allergens is essential. A negative result does not rule out an allergy, as there may be other factors influencing the patient's response to Cedar/Red Tree allergens.
