Allergens, Food, Extended Panel IgG
Also known as: G FOOD PAN
Use
The Allergens, Food, Extended Panel IgG test is used to measure the levels of IgG antibodies against various food allergens in the patient's serum. Elevated IgG levels may indicate exposure to dietary antigens and are typically evaluated in the context of food sensitivity. The test may assist healthcare practitioners in understanding potential food-related immune responses, although its clinical utility is debated and should be interpreted cautiously.
Special Instructions
This test is not approved for use in New York state. Samples should not be sent to ARUP from New York due to regulatory restrictions. Please consult the specimen collection instructions to ensure accurate and adequate sampling. Ensure serum is separated from cells within 2 hours of collection.
Limitations
Results from IgG food allergy testing should not be used for the diagnosis of food allergies or intolerance alone. The presence of IgG antibodies to foods is a common aspect of the immune response in healthy individuals and does not necessarily implicate clinical pathology. False positives may occur, and results should not be used in isolation to guide dietary changes. The test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
