Allergens, Isocyanate Panel
Also known as: ISOCYANPAN
Use
The Allergens, Isocyanate Panel measures allergen-specific IgE concentrations for isocyanates, which are industrial compounds that can cause respiratory and other allergic reactions. This test is used to evaluate potential IgE-mediated allergic responses to isocyanate compounds, helping to diagnose occupational allergies and guide treatment and avoidance strategies for individuals exposed to these substances.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Use a serum separator tube for specimen collection. The serum should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within two hours of collection. Transfer the required volume of serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Limitations
Results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as their clinical significance is undetermined. The concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results. Correlation with clinical history and in vivo reactivity is essential. A negative result does not rule out an allergic condition or even anaphylaxis.
