Isocyanate HDI
Use
The Isocyanate HDI test is used to detect specific IgE antibodies to Isocyanate HDI. This test is particularly significant in identifying allergic reactions in individuals exposed to isocyanates, which are used in a variety of industrial applications such as spray painting, foam production, and other chemical processes. Detecting specific IgE antibodies helps clinicians assess potential occupational allergies and guide management strategies for affected individuals.
Special Instructions
This test measures the presence of specific IgE antibodies using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® method. Specimens should be collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube and must meet the stability criteria as defined. Ensure proper handling to maintain specimen integrity.
Limitations
The Isocyanate HDI test may not detect all specific IgE antibodies relevant to various isocyanates, limiting its scope to Isocyanate HDI specifically. False negatives or less sensitivity may occur if the exposure levels are below the threshold for IgE production. Additionally, results might be influenced by cross-reactivity with other allergens or non-specific binding. Clinical correlation with exposure history and other diagnostic modalities is recommended for accurate diagnosis.
