Anti-C1q Antibody, IgG
Also known as: ANTI-C1Q
Use
The presence of the anti-C1q IgG antibody is associated with an increased risk of lupus nephritis or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) global activity. These antibodies are not specific for SLE, so a strong clinical correlation with the disease is recommended.
Special Instructions
Specimen should be separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection for optimal results.
Limitations
Anti-C1q antibodies are not specific for SLE and should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical information. False positives may occur, and the presence of these antibodies alone cannot confirm a diagnosis.
