CD5 by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: CD5 IHC
Use
The CD5 by Immunohistochemistry test is used to evaluate tissue samples or cell preparations for the presence of CD5 antigen expression. CD5 is a protein found on the surface of some T-cells and a subset of B-cells and is commonly used as a marker in the diagnosis and characterization of hematological disorders, including some types of lymphoma and leukemia. Detecting the presence or absence of CD5 can aid in differential diagnosis and guide further testing or treatment options.
Special Instructions
IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY ORDERING AND SUBMISSION DETAILS: Submit electronic request. If you do not have electronic ordering capability, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. For additional technical details, contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787.
Limitations
This test is performed as a stain and return (technical) service only. It is crucial to submit appropriate specimens that are representative of the tissue type; non-representative specimens or depleted samples are not suitable for analysis. Additionally, pre-cut slides should not be oven baked and must be preserved correctly for optimal results.
