Connective Tissue Diseases Profile
Also known as: CONN
Use
The Connective Tissue Diseases Profile is a confirmatory test for more common systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases, also known as connective tissue diseases. It assists in the diagnosis and differentiation of various autoimmune diseases, including Sjögren Syndrome, Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma), and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), among others. This test evaluates the presence of specific antibodies associated with these conditions, allowing healthcare providers to better understand the autoimmune status of their patients and guide treatment decisions.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This test is not suitable for testing plasma or other body fluids, and samples contaminated with bacteria are unacceptable. Negative results do not necessarily rule out the disease presence; further testing may be required for comprehensive evaluation. The sensitivity and specificity of the antibody tests may vary, and certain antibodies may be present in multiple autoimmune conditions, necessitating careful interpretation of results in the clinical context.
