Fentanyl and Metabolite, Urine, Quantitative
Also known as: CDCO FENU
Use
This test is used to obtain quantitative results for fentanyl and its metabolite, norfentanyl, in urine. It is intended for clinical purposes only and is not valid for forensic use. The test helps to monitor compliance, timing of drug administration, or absorption issues, which may affect the presence of expected drugs or metabolites. A drug concentration value must meet or exceed the cutoff of 1.0 ng/mL to be reported as positive.
Special Instructions
For general screening, the recommended test is Fentanyl, Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation (2012284).
Limitations
This test may not detect the presence of fentanyl or its metabolites if the specimen is improperly timed relative to drug administration, if there is poor drug absorption, or if the urine is diluted or adulterated. The absence of expected drugs/metabolites might also reflect these issues. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles can make specimens unacceptable.
