Neuronal Nuclei (NeuN) by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: NEUN IHC
Use
The Neuronal Nuclei (NeuN) test by immunohistochemistry is used to identify neuronal nuclei in tissue samples. NeuN staining is primarily used for research and diagnostic purposes to differentiate between neuronal and non-neuronal cells, assisting in the identification of neuronal cell populations within a given sample. It may be particularly useful in neuropathological evaluations where assessing the presence and distribution of neurons is crucial for understanding various neurological conditions.
Special Instructions
IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY ORDERING AND SUBMISSION DETAILS: Submit an electronic request. If you do not have electronic ordering capability, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) with an ARUP client number. Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory intended for clinical purposes. It is offered as a stain and return (technical) service only, meaning that ARUP Laboratories does not provide an interpretive report with this test.
