Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) Antibody
Use
The Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) Antibody test is used to investigate potential autoimmune disorders involving the parathyroid gland. Detecting antibodies against the parathyroid hormone can help in diagnosing autoimmune parathyroid disorders, contributing to the evaluation of parathyroid function and conditions such as hypoparathyroidism or pseudohypoparathyroidism.
Special Instructions
This test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories; specimens must be sent to a non-ARUP laboratory, specifically Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute. Separate specimens should be submitted for multiple tests.
Limitations
The test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA but has been validated for clinical purposes as per CLIA regulations. Interpretive data such as reference intervals are provided by the performing laboratory. Results of the test should be considered in conjunction with clinical findings and other diagnostic tests.
