Allergen Profile, Food−Grain
Use
This test is used to measure specific IgE levels to various grains, which helps in the identification of allergic responses to food grains. It aids healthcare providers in diagnosing food grain allergies which could manifest as symptoms such as hives, swelling, or anaphylaxis upon exposure to the tested grains.
Special Instructions
The test is based on the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology and requires serum specimens. It is crucial to ensure that no isotopes have been recently administered to the patient. Specimens must be adequately labeled and free from gross hemolysis to avoid rejection.
Limitations
The test is limited to detecting only those allergens which are included in the panel (e.g., barley, corn, oat, rice, rye, wheat). It cannot detect allergens not included in the testing kit, and the results could be affected by recent administration of isotopes. Any response outside the typical IgE-mediated allergic response would not be detected by this test.
