Blastomyces Antibodies, Quantitative, DID
Use
Establish the diagnosis of infection due to Blastomyces dermatitidis
Special Instructions
Ensure specimen is properly collected in the specified tubes. Follow storage instructions to maintain sample integrity. Coordinate with the laboratory for any additional confirmatory or reflex tests that may be required based on initial results.
Limitations
The test may not detect very early infections or those where the organism does not elicit a strong immune response, leading to lower antibody levels. Cross-reactions with antibodies from other fungal infections may occur, affecting specificity. Hemolysis, lipemia, or gross bacterial contamination can impact test accuracy, leading to sample rejection.
