Coombs', Direct
Also known as: DAT, Direct Antihuman Globulin Test, Direct Coombs'
Use
Detect in vivo coating of IgG and/or complement components on RBCs
Special Instructions
The test utilizes antiglobulin test methodology. Red cells that test positive are further analyzed with monospecific antisera which include anti-IgG and anticomplement.
Limitations
The presence of potent cold autoagglutinins can interfere with test interpretation. False positives may also occur if clotted blood samples are used, particularly affecting anticomplement results.
