Dextromethorphan (DM) and Metabolite, Quantitative, Urine
Also known as: Methorphan
Use
Detect presence of dextromethorphan, an over-the-counter cough suppressant with abuse potential
Special Instructions
Ensure the urine sample is collected in a plastic container without any preservatives. If the specimen will not be tested within three days, it should be refrigerated or frozen to maintain sample integrity.
Limitations
This test cannot distinguish between dextrorphan (a dextromethorphan metabolite) and levorphanol in the analysis process. Therefore, a positive result for dextrorphan does not rule out the presence of levorphanol due to potential indistinguishable analysis characteristics.
