Factor XIII Activity
Use
Detect homozygous and heterozygous as well as acquired factor XIII deficiency
Special Instructions
When submitting frozen samples, ensure that separate frozen specimens are provided for each test requested to avoid delays in turnaround time. It is essential to follow the collection instructions carefully to maintain the integrity of the sample and ensure accurate results.
Limitations
This test may be considered investigational by Medicare and other insurance carriers, which may impact reimbursement. Results of this test are for research purposes only per the assay manufacturer, and its performance characteristics have not been established. The results should not be used as a diagnostic procedure without confirmation of the diagnosis by another medically established diagnostic product or procedure. Very low or high fibrinogen levels may result in falsely decreased Factor XIII activity levels, and samples that are not sodium citrated plasma may have falsely decreased results.

Collection Instructions
Citrated plasma samples should be collected by double centrifugation. Blood should be collected in a blue-top tube containing 3.2% buffered sodium citrate. Evacuated collection tubes must be filled to completion. Mix immediately by gentle inversion at least six times. A discard tube is required when using a winged blood collection device. Centrifuge for 10 minutes, remove 2/3 of the plasma carefully, and recentrifuge. Transfer the plasma into a Labcorp PP transpak frozen purple tube and freeze immediately.
Storage Instructions
Freeze; stable at room temperature for eight hours or refrigerated for 24 hours. Four freeze/thaw cycles are acceptable.
