Finch Feathers
Use
The Finch Feathers test is used to measure the levels of specific IgE antibodies to Finch feather allergens. IgE antibodies are typically elevated in individuals who have an allergic reaction to specific environmental substances, including animal feathers. This test helps in diagnosing allergic conditions related to bird feathers, specifically Finch feathers, which can be beneficial for managing allergy symptoms and devising appropriate treatment plans.
Special Instructions
This test requires a serum specimen with a minimum volume of 0.2 mL. The specimen should be collected in a 10 mL red-top tube or a 10 mL gel-barrier tube. It is important to note that the stability of the specimen is maintained at room temperature for 14 days, refrigerated for 14 days, and frozen for up to 3 months. The specimen is stable through up to three freeze/thaw cycles.
Limitations
The Finch Feathers test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but it has been developed and its performance characteristics have been determined by LabCorp. The FDA has determined that such clearance or approval is not necessary for clinical use. This test should not be regarded as investigational or for research purposes. Turnaround time may vary if additional confirmatory tests are required.
