Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1), Quantitative, Real-time PCR (Nongraphical) With Reflex to HIV-1 PhenoSense GT® Plus Integrase
Also known as: HIV-1 Plasma Viremia, HIV-1 RNA by Real-time PCR, Quantitative, Reflex to PhenoSense GT® Plus Integrase, Viral Load
Use
Detect and quantitate HIV-1 in plasma with reflex to PhenoSense GT® Plus Integrase (at additional charge) if viral load is >500 copies/mL.
Special Instructions
A separate frozen specimen is required for the PhenoSense GT® Plus Integrase portion of the test. Collection requires three lavender-top (EDTA) or three PPT™ tubes. Specimens must be centrifuged within six hours of collection, and plasma transferred to screw-cap polypropylene transport tubes for freezing. Ship frozen. Ensure PPT™ tubes are transferred to screw-cap tubes before freezing to prevent elevation in low viral load samples. To avoid delays, submit separate frozen specimens for each requested test.
Limitations
The assay range for this test is between 20 and 10,000,000 copies/mL. The performance of this test outside its specified range may not be accurate. Hemolysis, use of green-top (heparin) tubes, or specimens in incorrect containers may lead to rejection. Additionally, improper handling or failure to freeze specimens properly may result in inaccurate results.
