Use
This test is used to detect and quantify HIV-1 RNA in plasma, which aids in the clinical management of HIV-1 infected patients. The test also determines HIV-1 drug resistance using DNA sequencing, which informs treatment decisions to improve therapy outcomes.

Limitations
The test should not be used for blood donor screening, associated reentry protocols, or for screening human cells, tissues, and cellular- or tissue-based products (HCT/P). A result of 'Not Detected' does not rule out the presence of inhibitors or an HIV-1 RNA concentration below the detection level. The performance characteristics depend on factors such as patient adherence, percentage of resistant virus population, dosing, and drug pharmacology.
