Liver Fibrosis Risk Profile With Hepatic Function Panel, Complete Blood Count (CBC) With Differential, FIB-4, and APRI
Also known as: Fatty Liver Disease, Liver Fibrosis, NAFLD, NASH, Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Use
Screening patients suspected to be at risk for liver fibrosis.
Special Instructions
The test includes a comprehensive analysis of hematocrit, hemoglobin, RBC, WBC, liver enzymes like ALT/AST, albumin, bilirubin, and other components in the CBC and hepatic function panel. Patients should ensure proper specimen collection, adhering to collection instructions for optimal results.
Limitations
Results may be affected by clumping, which can cause false low platelet counts, and platelet satellitism, which causes pseudothrombocytopenia. RBC or WBC fragments, including leukemic cells and neutrophil pseudoplatelets, may cause falsely elevated counts. Specific findings in the staining smeared assessment may indicate further investigation is required, according to numeric or instrument flagging criteria.
