Manganese, RBC and Plasma
Use
Evaluate manganese stores
Special Instructions
Both packed RBCs and plasma samples are required for testing. The specimens must be separated before shipping to prevent hemolysis or contamination. Use royal blue-top EDTA metal-free tubes. Separate the specimens into plastic, acid-washed, trace metal-free tubes before transport.
Limitations
Failure to separate plasma and red cells can lead to sample rejection. Specimens must be received at the testing facility within five days of collection to ensure accuracy. Hemolysis of cellular elements can lead to falsely elevated plasma results. Test results must be interpreted with consideration for pre-analytical variables, such as storage and transport conditions.
