Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), One Drug
Also known as: Susceptibility Testing
Use
Determine minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) susceptibility of a given organism to an antimicrobial agent
Special Instructions
Please specify the drug(s) to be tested when ordering this test. If the identification of the organism is not provided, additional charge may apply for performing the identification required for accurate susceptibility testing.
Limitations
Fastidious organisms may not grow in certain testing conditions, leading to a report of 'unable to grow for MIC'. In such cases, a disc diffusion susceptibility test (Kirby-Bauer) might be performed, reporting results as susceptible, indeterminate, or resistant if feasible. Turnaround times may vary if additional confirmatory or reflex tests are needed.
